SPIRITUAL INTELLIGENCE
You may have heard of emotional intelligence and may have read and applied the knowledge you got.
You may also know your EQ as well as! Q which represents the Emotional Intelligence Quotient or Emotional Quotient and Intelligence Quotient.
Intelligence Quotient in simple terms means how fast we comprehend, process, and store knowledge.
While EQ and IQ are helpful, they are not all the intelligence there is to man.
Man doesn’t just have emotions and a brain, man is a spirit, has a soul, and lives in a body.
Emotional intelligence is for the soul while the intelligence quotient is for the brain which is for the body, how about the core of man?
Man is a Spirit! If there is intelligence to this other side of man, then there is spiritual intelligence.
WHAT IS SPIRITUAL INTELLIGENCE?
Spiritual intelligence is the knowledge of God.
It is not the knowledge of good and bad, it is the knowledge of God.
Ephesians 1:17
“17 I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit[a] of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.” NIV
Emotional intelligence and intellectual intelligence come from spiritual intelligence because God is the source of all wisdom.
Man was made in the image and likeness of God, we were made to mirror God, and spiritual intelligence is being able to mirror our substance.
Genesis 1:27
“27 So God created mankind in his image,
in the image of God, he created them;
male and female, he created them.” NIV
For there to be an image, there has to be an object the image is mirroring or reflecting and they are one but in the opposite direction.
God is the OBJECT, we have to mirror to form a clear image and for us to be able to do that, we have to know God.
The essence of man is in His and EQ AND IQ are all subject to SQ. your spiritual intelligence covers all of them.
The knowledge of God is all that we have to know.
That is the simplicity in which God made man.
THE TEMPTATION OF ADAM AND EVE WASN’T JUST ABOUT FOOD.
We all know how Eve was deceived in Genesis 3 and made to eat the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Before then, in the chapter, we see where God told them that they should not eat a particular fruit from a tree and if they did, death would occur.
Genesis 2;
“15 The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.
16 And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden;
17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.” NIV
First off, was this instruction about food?
Some people believe it was the food they ate that made them fall. It wasn’t food. In the bible, we would notice that a tree is symbolic of a body of knowledge that has fruits.
Proverbs 3:18
“She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her;
those who hold her fast will be blessed.” NIV
Even in the instruction, it is seen that God said it was a tree of knowledge not a tree of food.
It wasn’t food, it was knowledge.
God didn’t want man to know evil and good.
Just like God instructed in the training of our children.
Proverbs 22:6
“Start children off on the way they should go,
and even when they are old they will not turn from it.NIV
It didn’t say to teach children good and evil, teach a child the way he should go and he would never depart from that way because that is all he knows.
Fellow parents like me would affirm that telling a child not to do something gets them to do exactly what you have asked them not to do.
It is because they want to disobey; it is of their growth stage. Everything they hear, they do whether good or bad.
Do not introduce them to what you do not want, instead of telling them what not to do, tell them what to do and you will see them do that.
For example, when a child climbs the walls, it is better to say come down than to say stop climbing.
This child would come down if you stamp your foot on him coming down and then say doesn’t climb. He surely would want to climb.
If God who made us told us to teach our children this way, that shows this is the way He trains us too.
No good and evil.
2 Corinthians 11:3
“3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.” NIV
Satan beguiled Eve and took her away from the simplicity that is God, thereby complicating her life.
There is peace in not knowing good and evil. God doesn’t want to relate with us based on good and evil, He wants to relate with us based on righteousness.
The temptation many believers fall into today is the temptation of good and evil. They think in terms of doing good or doing evil.
Evil always dwells with good, that is what the temptation in the garden represents. Evil doesn’t always come on its own, it comes with some good and that was what tripped Eve.
Eve wanted to know good and evil which was what killed her, she was supposed to know only righteousness which is the position they had with God.
There is what is called forbidden knowledge, what you are not supposed to know.
Knowledge is food.
Food for the spirit or food for the soul, it all depends on what you get in or how much you drive it in.
Jeremiah 3:15
“15 And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.” NIV
Knowledge is food because it is only food that is fed.
Remember Jesus said the – I am the bread of life and He is the word of God which means the word of God is the food of life.
Words are food the unseen part of us.
TYPES OF FOOD
In the bible, there are two types of food.
- Unseen food
- Seen food
The unseen food is knowledge which is food for the Brain, Mind, and Spirit.
Seen food is the physical food we eat from plants and animals.
Jesus was talking about these kinds of food in Matthew 15:11
“11 What goes into someone’s mouth does not defile them, but what comes out of their mouth that is what defiles them.” NIV
This means that the physical food you eat comes from our feces which is not useful to man except in acting as manure for his crops but what comes out of you, comes out in the form of words and actions that can determine the course of your life.
Jesus was talking about the unseen food which is knowledge. We cannot see knowledge but we see the effects of knowledge in our world.
It is the unseen food that you eat that can kill or make you alive.
It is this unseen food that man wasn’t supposed to eat good and evil food.
For example: When a woman marries as a virgin, the only man she knows is her husband. That is the right knowledge God wants her to have.
Her safety and pleasure lie in what she knows.
For example, she knew three men before marrying her husband, and after marriage, she will know with whom she can compare her husband.
- His sexual prowess compared to the men she has had in the past.
- How long they have sex
- The size of his penis
- The color and other details with which she makes mental comparisons may leave her dissatisfied
Our sexual satisfaction doesn’t lie in the number of people we have slept with but in the boundary of what we know.
The lesser you know or the right things you know, the better for you. Every forbidden knowledge you get kills something in you because death is linked to what they know.
A woman doesn’t have an issue worrying about the penis size of a man if she is a virgin. She is factory fitted to accommodate any penis size and get maximum satisfaction.
Any woman crying and trying to check the size of a man’s penis has forbidden knowledge and it is killing her, as may have missed a great fit for them all because of penis size.
There is peace in knowing the right things.
In our clime, people call those who do not know evil “Jew man” there is peace in being a “Jew man”.
Remember, we are still talking about spiritual intelligence.
You may be asking how about the right knowledge we got that didn’t work in our lives.
For example: the scriptures do not seem to work for me, why?
WHY THE SCRIPTURE DOESN’T WORK FOR SOME PEOPLE.
In the unseen food, there are foods for different aspects of man.
- Spirit – Subconscious Mind
- Soul – Conscious Mind
- Body – Brain
The first level is the body, the brain is a part of the body and when we read, we retain the knowledge in the brain which we call “cramming”.
Information in our brain lasts for only a few hours and then disappears. This is why we cannot remember many things we read and left in our brains alone.
The second level is the soulish realm where we consciously take knowledge from the brain to the mind.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE?
The brain is different from the mind. The brain is a physical organ that supports the activities of the mind.
The mind is our ability to think, feel, and engage with physical realities.
The brain is seen but the mind is unseen.
How we move things from the brain to the mind is by meditation.
And how long we meditate determines how deep what we are meditating on goes.
If you permit me, I would want to say there are only two types of unseen food.
- Food for the conscious mind – the soul.
- Food for the unconscious mind – the spirit.
Many of us merely believe things but we do not know what we believe. To believe means to agree with what we hear but to know means to understand what we know and be able to apply it.
In the faith movement, it is called mentally accenting something, it is different from what we know.
Then, Jesus said.
John 8:31 – 32
“31 To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are my disciples.
32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” NIV
It is the truth we know that will set us free.
One day, I was discussing with a friend who lost a colleague. I was worried and asked what happened and why she died.
My friend mentioned to me that the deceased had a health condition that claimed her life.
She was going to the hospital as well as using the word of God. Yet, she died. In as much as God is sovereign, I wondered why many people are unable to appropriate their healing while others do.
I started asking God what the missing link was.
One day, I was retreating when God began to teach why many believers miss out on the efficacy of God’s word.
- Inability to drive the word down
- Inability to digest the word.
Meditation is the way we push knowledge down to our spirit man.
The way Christians meditate differs from the way the world meditates.
Christian meditation starts from the mouth while the worldly kind of meditation is only in the mind – sitting quietly and thinking.
Joshua 1:8
“8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth, but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have success.” NIV
The above scripture is the formula with which we meditate.
We take the word in our mouths and begin to recite it. As we recite it, we push it from the conscious realm to the unconscious realm.
Remember that the unseen food is words, if you do not take what you hear as words, you cannot digest what you have heard.
The level of repetition of words takes it from the conscious mind to the subconscious mind which is what Apostle Paul calls the mind of the Spirit.
The confession a believer makes is not just for the devil and his cohorts because the word is the sword of the Spirit, it is also for the believer to feed his Spirit.
Hence the word digests in his Spirit man, the word will always rise to situations from the inside.
But we do not take the word to speak it into our Spirit or we do not speak it enough.
Another pitfall the believer has to watch is speaking the word he has not digested to others in the form of teaching them.
The word produces fruits in our Spirits and acts on its own accord, our work is not to try to act the word, our work is to sow the word in our Spirit.
When a believer finds a revelation from the word of God, he owns himself the duty to digest the word first before trying to give it out to others.
What many of us do is regurgitate. We chew and throw up without it digesting and bearing fruits in us. The word we give out should be fruits which is the digested form of the word, not the seed.
There is a time to teach, when we teach before time, we lose the revelation and it does us no good.
We think we know the word but the word is not in us, the only way it shows up is when trials come. The Bible says that if you faint on a day of trouble, your strength is small.
Many times, we think because we know scriptures, that the scripture is in us until trouble shows up and we notice how empty we are.
We are in the pool of water and yet we are drowning because we have refused to drink water down to our belly.
We only satisfy the taste in our mouth and throw it up for others and we go about famished ourselves.
Take the word in first before teaching others.
WHY DO WE DO THIS?
There are many reasons this happens but I will mention only two.
- We have the responsibility to teach too early:
There are times when we are babes and all we need is to sit down and be fed. But we do not go from being fed to feeding others. We go from being fed to feeding ourselves.
We feed ourselves for a very long time before we grow to the point of feeding others.
But what we do in the kingdom is that we feed babes (disciple them), when we are through, we do not allow them enough space to feed themselves, we give them the responsibility of feeding others.
So, they get the word to teach others. They eat and vomit and go about hungry. Without the early responsibility of feeding others, people may be able to do better.
- We want to show off:
Many people want to show off too early that they know something and they end up losing it entirely. This is the bane of the information age. Everyone is a teacher and no one sits down to learn and teach himself first.
We are learning to teach and that is no learning at all according to the scriptures. You must learn to keep, you must learn for yourself first.
The first and best way to teach is not by words but by fruits. The real information age would start when we stop teaching by words first and start with fruits before words.
This is why Jesus said
You who teach do not steal, do you steal?
He wasn’t just admonishing us not to steal, He is asking us if we know the word we teach and if it has bore fruits in our lives before coming out with words.
The things you teach, are they mere words, or the things you have driven down into you and have it bear fruit in you?
This is what the parable of the sower means.
You get the word of God which is the seed and you sow it in your heart.
You do not just hear it and leave it without saying it which is what the first layer of people who heard and never said what they heard to themselves. They left the word by the wayside.
The enemy came and stole the word – you must say what you have heard to yourself, this way it leaves the surface, you have just planted it.
The ones that fell among the rock are those who planted the word peripherally. They didn’t take the word deep into their hearts by speaking and meditation.
Immediately, the word they planted sprang up too early but the sun came and scorched it. However, the sun was supposed to help it grow but the sun killed it.
The sun represents adverse situations which we should capitalize on to sow the word deeper but when it shows up, we conclude that the word doesn’t work.
Those who fell among the thorns were those who didn’t make time for the word because they were busy with the cares of this world which are what to eat, what to wear, and what to drink.
For the word to be produced, you must make time for the word.
The last phase of people who kept sowing the word no matter what the situation was. With time, they produced 30, 60, and 100 fold.
The level of fruit we bear is not dependent on God, it is dependent on how long we can stay with the word without giving it up.
CONCLUSION
Have you noticed that when you say things too early, you lose steam or energy for its accomplishments?
It is like giving out an idea way too early, you may never do that which was given to you.
But if you allow it in you, say it to yourself, and brood on it, you will find ways to accomplish it and even attract the people who would help you build, and at this time when it has bore fruit, you can then speak about it.
Fruits before words!
Thank you.
I love you.
