HOW TO WORSHIP GOD IN SPIRIT AND TRUTH

HOW TO WORSHIP GOD IN SPIRIT AND TRUTH

IS THE WORD IN YOU?

I have had the privilege of helping people who are sexually addicted come clean using the word of God.

Helping them get sober, and with each success story, I am amazed at how we were able to conquer a mountain.

Or an ocean that was drowning the person addicted.

I have also seen a terminal disease flee without medication from doctors.

Have had a tooth broken in pieces grow back on its own without pain and a few other miracles that I have personally experienced.

I cannot be talked out of God because I sure have been able to work the word.

To have also heard bad stories as well as experienced them made me ask more questions

I have seen preachers lose their lives trying to apply faith and other tragic things that have happened.

In all of these, I have judged God faithful but beyond this.

Seeking to understand how the supernatural works and how we can live in this reality daily.

I do not claim to have known all but I have found a few keys and answers.

Answers to the questions that have boggled my heart over the years.

IS THE WORD IN YOU?

It is one thing to preach the word and another thing to have the word in you.

Putting the word in you is a deliberate act everyone must do.

Many people assume that if they listen to the word, preach the word, and even read the word that the word is in them, but that is the partial truth.

A look at Romans 10:17 will show us more.

17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” KJV

This scripture talks about two types of hearing.

  1. The physical hearing

  2. The spiritual hearing

Physical hearing is hearing with our physical ears which is what we often do.

Hearing in church, listening to a message, preaching a message, etc.

This hearing doesn’t bring faith, it is the first step.

The scripture has ‘and’ which is a conjunction telling us that there is another level to this.

And hearing by the word of the God.

We may say the scripture is just telling us that the hearing must be by the word.

While this is true; I choose to see it in another light.

It is saying that the first hearing is Logos, the letter of the word.

But there is another hearing which is the rhema, that is the Spirit of the word which we can say is the word of God.

When you have this second step of hearing, you will know you have heard. It clears all controversies and produces results.

An example of this is when I heard that by the stripes of Jesus, we were healed and that divine health was ours to have.

I had read that scripture for a long time and heard messages on divine healing and yet, the hearing hadn’t entered my spirit.

It was just superficial.

And when I heard it in the spirit, it wasn’t even that scripture that the preacher was using, he used another one and the word settled.

When it settled, I knew I had received something.

I have forgotten the title of the message but I still remember what I heard.

It was a cool evening and in my family, we have this culture of playing the word often.

And at any chance we have, we play it so that at any place you are in the house, you will hear it.

We were listening to a message by Pastor Bankie Olushina.

He said that when Jesus met Saul of Tarsus, He(Jesus), didn’t ask Saul, why are you persecuting my people?

Because we are not God’s people, we are God.

He asked Saul, why are you persecuting me?

Because we are one and whatever happens to us has happened to him and whatever happened to him has happened to us.

The word sank and since then, I have had controversy on the healing subject inside of me.

There are many other examples I could cite to tell you when I heard the word of God but for want of time and space.

Jesus went ahead to tell us that if His word abides in us, we can ask for anything and it will be done.

John 15:7

If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.” KJV

One of the ways to get our will in prayer is by having the word abide in us, this ensures that we know the will of the Father.

And that our will aligns with His which engenders answers to prayers.

HOW DO WE GET THE WORD IN US?

By planting the word, we get the word inside us and find the teaching on how to do that with this link.

For this learning, I will focus on the power of putting God’s word in us.

The importance of putting God’s word in us cannot be overemphasized. They include but are not limited to

  1. Having the flashes of the word
  2. Ending all controversies
  3. The word fighting thoughts at the thought level
  4. Bearing fruits
  5. Peace
  6. Effortless change.

There are many times you will notice fearful thoughts rising in you as a thought – fearful thoughts of accusations or death or tragic things.

Such thoughts should not be overlooked. That’s a seed that the enemy has planted while you are asleep.

Matthew 13: 25

25 But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.” KJV

Sleeping here means when we are not aware. Oftentimes, we sleep while trying to get entertainment.

That is the easiest way the enemy sows tares in our lives because we are open and receptive.

And we do not counter what we see and hear thinking that our spirit man knows the difference between real life and movies.

The mind doesn’t know, it swallows everything hook line, and sinker.

It is only the conscious mind that knows you are seeing a movie but your subconscious thinks what you are seeing is happening to you.

We can then say that seeing something for the first time is having that thing happen to you.

That’s the first experience and if you keep exposing yourself to such toxicity, it sips down to your subconscious mind.

That even though it hasn’t happened to you, it has become part of you even when it didn’t happen to you directly.

This is why people spend millions of dollars on movies and videos because it is very easy to influence behavior.

With these channels, the person watching does not understand what is happening to him/her.

EFFORTLESS CHANGE

Many believers make an effort to live right and the more they try, the more it seems impossible.

Change should be effortless, we shouldn’t struggle to lead a holy life.

Because God has made provisions for everything we need in this life and not just life but to lead a godly life.

2 Peter 1:3

According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness,

through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:” KJV

If this scripture is true, why is it that we struggle to live the kind of life God wants us to live?

Why do we still struggle with sin?

The answer is in the method with which we are using to live righteously, we are trying to do it ourselves and that is wrong.

SELF RIGHTEOUSNESS

Self-righteousness is not trying to lead a holy life to please God, that is not it.

Self-righteousness is trying to get right with God away from the works of Jesus Christ but by our works.

Romans 10:3

For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.” KJV

When we refuse to accept the righteousness in Jesus Christ, trying to establish peace with God through our works, that is self-righteousness and that God never considers.

Self-righteousness is not when a believer is trying to resist sin to live a holy life, no it is not at all.

We should resist sin to our last blood

Hebrews 12:4

Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.” KJV

We should do that and that is how we express love to God, because the word said, if you love me, keep my commandments – John 14:15

It is a love walk, not a righteousness issue.

Righteousness is about positioning and that is only what Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross can do not what we can achieve by ourselves.

We change by not trying by our efforts to change, we change by utilizing the arsenals we have to change.

HOW DO WE CHANGE?

The word is one of the change agents we have in the scripture.

Look at the cry of Apostle Paul

Romans 7:14 – 25

“14 We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin.

15 I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.

16 And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good.

17 As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me.

18 For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature.[c] For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out.

19 For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing.

20 Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.

21 So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me.

22 For in my inner being I delight in God’s law;

23 but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me.

24 What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? 2

Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!

So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God’s law, but in my sinful nature[d] a slave to the law of sin.” NIV

The same thing we go through, Apostle Paul went through it and every other person who has walked the journey of life.

Apostle Paul took time to write and teach us how to deal with this issue.

He said that how we change is from inside out not outside in.

Jesus Christ has delivered us but with the flesh, we serve the law of sin but with the mind, we serve the law of God.

The law of God, not the Mosaic law.

This means that to change, where we have to focus is on the law of God in our minds.

The mind doesn’t suggest the conscious mind but buries the word in our subconscious minds.

When we do, the word works in us making us do what we want to do otherwise, without the word of God in us, it is impossible to please God.

There is an obedience that comes through faith according to Romans 1:5

By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name:” KJV

That is how to change, upon this principle I built a therapy session for addicts that doesn’t require them to try to stop the addiction.

But to practice the therapy along with it, and with time, the word of God knocks off the desire for the addiction and it dies a natural death.

Even when they are in the environment of the addiction, the taste is gone.

They cannot be tempted by it anymore.

This therapy is not dependent on removing the triggers or anything outward, we work on the inside with a few scriptures and the captive is free.

FINALLY ….

To worship God in the Spirit and truth shows the precedence of worship.

You have to bury the word in your spirit and it is the word in your spirit that aids your physical life which the truth stands for.

The Greek word translated as truth in the scripture is alētheia.

Aletheia means reality.

God is saying that we have to start from burying the word in our spirit man and the word will spring up to our words and actions.

That is how to worship God.
